Abbey, EDWIN AUSTIN, painter, born at Philadelphia, U.S., in 1852, came to London in 1878, became A.R.A. (1896) and R.A. (1898). Notable pictures were Richard III., Hamlet, and Lear's Daughters; and he has illustrated books.
