Aclinic Line

Chambers's Encyclopaedia, Volume 1: A to Beaufort, p. 36

Aclinic Line is a name for the magnetic equator, which cuts the terrestrial equator, inasmuch as on that line the magnetic needle has no dip, but lies horizontal. The acinic line is irregular and also variable. Aclinic is from the Greek words signifying ‘not bending.’ See MAGNETISM, DIPPING-NEEDLE.
