Acqui (Lat. Aquæ Staticillæ), a town of Northern Italy, 21 miles SSW. of Alessandria by rail. It derives its name from its hot sulphur springs, which were known to the Romans. The town contains an old castle, a Gothic cathedral (12th century), and remains of a Roman aqueduct. Wine and silk are produced. Pop. 7411.
