Air

Air, or ASBEN, an oasis-kingdom in the North (French) Soudan. Agades (q.v.) is the capital. The country is principally inhabited by three tribes, all Tuaregs, with some admixture of negro blood. The valleys are naturally rich in tropical vegetation, but they are poorly cultivated. Although the valleys of Air are in the region of the tropics, the climate is comparatively temperate.
