Aire-sur-Lys

Aire-sur-Lys, a fortified town in the French department of Pas-de-Calais, on the Lys, and at the junction of three canals, 37 miles W. of Lille by rail. It has one fine church, St Pierre, some cotton and woollen manufactures, and a considerable trade. Pop. 5200.
