Albani, MADAME

Albani, MADAME (née Emma La Jeunesse), vocalist, was born at Chambly, in Canada, and, trained in music by her father, at the age of twelve made her début at Albany, from which she assumed the professional name of 'Albani.' She studied afterwards at Paris and Milan, and in 1870 sung at Messina with a success that has since attended her to London and Paris (1872), the United States (1874), St Petersburg (1878), Berlin (1884), &c. In 1878, she married Mr Ernest Gye, eldest son of the director of the Royal Italian Opera, London.
