Allopathy (Gr. allos, 'other,' pathos, 'disease'), a mode of curing diseases by producing a condition of the system opposite to that characteristic of the disease; a name invented by Hahnemann for the standard system of medical treatment, as opposed to Homeopathy (q. v.).
