Alpnach. or ALPNACHT, a Swiss village, in the canton of Unterwalden, at the foot of Mount Pilatus, 1\frac{1}{2} miles from that part of Lake Lucerne called Lake Alpnach. It is known principally on account of its celebrated 'slide,' now disused, which was 8 miles long, and by means of which timber was brought from the forests of Mount Pilatus to the village. Pop. 1679.
