Apocar'pous Fruits

Apocar'pous Fruits, in Botany, are those fruits which are the produce of a single flower, and are formed of only one carpel, or of a number of carpels remaining free and separate from each other. The term is derived from the Greek apo, implying separation, and carpos, fruit.
