Attestation

Attestation, in Conveyancing, is the verification of the execution of deeds and wills by witnesses; hence the clause at the end of these instruments which immediately precedes the signatures of the witnesses, is called the attestation clause (see DEED, WILL, WITNESS). In the Scotch practice, the corresponding clause is called the Testing-clause (q.v.).
