Ballycas'tle, a small seaport in the north of County Antrim, Ireland, on an open bay opposite Rathlin Isle, 68 miles N. of Belfast by rail. Its harbour and pier (now sanded up and ruined) cost £150,000. Coal was dug here 500 years ago. Bally represents the Irish baile, 'town.' Pop. 1461.
