Barabra, a Nubian people living on both sides of the Nile from Wady Halfa to Assuan (Egyptian Soudan). They are about 40,000 in number, and are believed to belong to the same stock as the ancient Egyptians. They are an agricultural people, and zealous Mohammedans. Their language has affinities with Coptic.
