Barrantes, VICENTE, a Spanish writer, born at Badajoz, 29th March 1829. He early made a reputation by his dramatic pieces, political satires, stories, and ballads. In 1858 he entered the cortes, and in 1872 was elected to the Spanish Academy. Amongst his works are Viaje a los Infiernos, a political satire, and an historical work on the Philippine Islands.
