Taconic System, a term applied by Professor Emmons to certain azoic and paleozoic rocks occurring in the state of New York and adjoining districts. These he believed to be the equivalents of the Cambrian rocks of England. Subsequent investigations have shown that Emmons misread the geological structure of the regions studied by him, and his arrangement of the strata has therefore been set aside. The subject has given rise to much discussion amongst American geologists.
