Trimethylamine, , incorrectly called propylamine, is an organic base resembling ammonia in some of its properties, and having a strong herring-brine odour. It is obtained principally by distilling herring-brine with lime. It has been employed with success, in doses of 10 to 15 drops, in the treatment of acute rheumatism.
