Ubeda, a town of Spain, on a plateau between the Guadalquivir and Guadalmar, 26 miles NE. of Jaen. It contains a large castle, and manufactures cloth, soap, and leather. A flourishing town under the Moors, it witnessed the victory in 1210 of the kings of Navarre and Castile over Abdallah Mohammed of Morocco. Pop. 19,500.
