Wabash, capital of Wabash county, Indiana, on the Wabash River, 89 miles by rail NNE. of Indianapolis, with machine and sash works, railway-shops, &c. Pop. 5105.—The Wabash River rises in western Ohio, flows across Indiana, then turns south and separates it for 200 miles from Illinois, and falls into the Ohio River after a course of 550 miles. The Wabash and Erie Canal, which also passes the town, is the longest (476 miles) in the States. It runs from Toledo, Ohio, to Evansville, Indiana.
