Wharton, GRACE, the pen-name of Mrs Katharine Thomson (née Byerley; died 1862), authoress of Lives of Raleigh (1830), Sarah, Duchess of Marlborough (1838), and the Duke of Buckingham (3 vols. 1860), Memoirs of the Jacobites (3 vols. 1845-46), &c. With Philip Wharton, pen-name of her son, John Cockburn Thomson (died 1860), she published Queens of Society (2 vols. 1860) and Wits and Beaux of Society (2 vols. 1860).
