Winsor, JUSTIN, born at Boston, Massachusetts, in 1831, studied at Harvard and at Heidelberg, was librarian at Boston 1868–77, and afterwards at Harvard, and has published various bibliographical works, and edited the Memorial History of Boston (4 vols. 1880–81), and a valuable but somewhat chaotic compilation, The Narrative and Critical History of America (8 vols. 1884–90). In 1891 he issued a Life of Columbus. He died 22d October 1897.
