Wurtz, CHARLES ADOLPHE

Wurtz, CHARLES ADOLPHE (1817-84), a great French chemist, a native of Strasburg, from 1844 a resident in Paris. He is author of numerous works on chemistry, of which The Atomic Theory (1880) and Modern Chemistry (by Greene, Philadelphia, 1879; 4th ed. 1885) have been translated into English.
