Zillerthal, a Tyrolean valley watered by the Ziller, a tributary of the Inn, whose inhabitants are noted for their handsome figures and their admirable singing. In 1837, 400 of their number, feeling auricular confession a grievance and inclining to Protestantism, were compelled to leave their homes, ultimately settling at Erdmanusdorf near Liegnitz, in Prussian Silesia.
