Beith, a small town of North Ayrshire, on the borders of Renfrewshire, 18 miles SW. of Glasgow by rail. Its most notable manufacture is that of furniture in large cabinet-works. The chief building is the Speir School (1887), resembling the old college at Glasgow. Pop. (1881) 4037; (1891) 4795.
