Bellino'na, or BELLENZ, the chief town of the Swiss canton of Ticino, on the left bank of the river Ticino, 109 miles SSE. of Lucerne by rail. It has still its three old castles, which, with their towers and battlements, give the place a very medieval appearance, but of which only two are now fortified, the third serving as a house of correction. Pop. 2436, mostly Italian-speaking.
