Belvedere (Kochia salsaola scoparia), an annual belonging to the Chenopodiaceæ (q.v.), a native of the middle and south of Europe. It has long been familiar in British gardens as an ornamental annual, not upon account of its flowers—for they have no beauty—but of its close pyramidal, rigid form, and numerous narrow leaves, which give it some resemblance to a miniature cypress-tree. It is hence sometimes called Summer Cypress.
