Bench-warrant

Chambers's Encyclopaedia, Volume 2: Beaugency to Cataract, p. 69

Bench-warrant is a warrant issued by the court before which an indictment has been found to arrest the accused, that he may appeal and find bail for his appearance at the trial. It is used extensively in the United States to bring into court persons who have neglected to obey an order of court, such as delinquent jurors.
