Bicarbonates

Bicarbonates differ from carbonates in containing twice as much carbonic acid. Bicarburets, bisulphurets, and bitartrates are words formed on the same plan; but in recent chemical nomenclature, the prefix bi- has been superseded by di-. See CHEMISTRY.
