Biobio, the largest river of Chili, has a west-north-westerly course of about 220 miles, from near the volcano of Antuco in the Andes to Concepcion on the Pacific Ocean. It is 2 miles wide at its mouth, and navigable for 100 miles.—The river since 1875 has given name to a province with an area of 4158 sq. m., and a pop. of 122,729.
