Bisley, a village of Surrey (pop. 700), 4 miles NW. of Woking; to Bisley Common were removed in 1890 the meetings of the National Rifle Association—the Princess of Wales having opened the meeting on June 12 of that year by firing a rifle—and Bisley became the new Wimbledon of volunteer marksmen.—Another Bisley is in Gloucestershire, 3 miles E. of Stroud; pop. of parish, 5171.
