Bithur', a town in India on the Ganges, 12 miles NW. of Cawnpore. It is particularly devoted to the worship of Brahma, has numerous pagodas, and is a favourite resort for pilgrims. The stronghold of the infamous Nana Sahib, it was captured by Havelock in 1857. Pop. (1881) 6685.
