Blankenburg, a town and summer-resort of Brunswick, 37 miles SSE. of the capital, on the borders of the Harz Mountains. Pop. 7703, many of them miners.—There is a second Blankenburg, with 2330 inhabitants, in the Rudolstadt division of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, 25 miles S. by W. of Weimar. It is a favourite bathing-place.
