Bödtcher, LUDVIG

Chambers's Encyclopaedia, Volume 2: Beaugency to Cataract, p. 259

Bödtcher, LUDVIG, one of the most finished poets the North has produced, was born at Copenhagen in 1793, and after a long residence in Italy, returned home in 1835, to die there in 1874. His poems are mainly love songs, and form but two small collections; but almost every one of them is a gem. See Gosse's Northern Studies (1879).
