Bolgrad, a town in the Russian province of Bessarabia, 28 miles NW. of Ismail, at the head of Lake Yapuch, a feeder of the Danube. It is well built, and has some trade and manufactures of soap, candles, pottery, &c. Pop. 8179, many of them Bulgarian immigrants.
