Borghesi, BARTOLOMMEO, COUNT, a distinguished Italian antiquary, born at Savignano, in 1781. At Bologna and Rome he devoted himself to archaeological researches. He next arranged and catalogued various collections of coins, including that of the Vatican. In 1821 he fixed his residence in the little republic of San Marino, where he lived devoted entirely to study, and died 16th April 1860. Borghesi did enormous service to Roman epigraphy and numismatics.
