Breaking Inclosures, the technical name of an old statutory offence in Scotland, which consisted of injuring plantations or breaking their inclosures. Special punishments were provided for the purpose of favouring planting and inclosing in the 17th century. This would now be punished as malicious mischief. See PLANTATION.
