Bromley

Bromley, a market-town of Kent, on the Ravensbourne, 10 miles SE. of London. Long the residence of the bishops of Rochester, it has a town-hall (1864), a college for clergymen's widows (1866), and a church, with the grave of Dr Johnson's wife. Pop. of parish (1851) 4127; (1891) 21,684.
