Brünnen, a village, the port of the Swiss canton of Schwyz, on the Lake of Lucerne, near the mouth of the Muotta, 17 miles by water, but 28½ by rail ESE. of Lucerne. Here in 1315, after the battle of Morgarten, the deputies of the Forest Cantons formed a league.
