Buache, PHILIPPE, a French geographer, born 1700, became in 1729 royal geographer, in 1730 a member of the Academy of Sciences; died in 1773. He published both atlases and geographical works.—His nephew, Jean Nicolas Buache (1741–1821), was also a celebrated geographer.
