Buol-Schauchenstein, KARL FERDINAND, COUNT, Austrian statesman, born 17th May 1797, was minister in succession at Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, Turin, and St Petersburg. He was second Austrian plenipotentiary at the Dresden Conference (1850), after which he was minister at London, until the death of Schwarzenberg recalled him to Vienna, to hold the portfolio of foreign affairs. He presided at the Vienna Conference in 1855, and represented Austria at the Congress of Paris. He died October 28, 1865.
