Burano

Burano, an island and town of Northern Italy, 5 miles NE. of Venice. Vegetables are raised, and fishing employs the greater number of the inhabitants. There is a school for the designing and making of fine laces; this manufacture, once famous, then nearly extinct, having latterly been revived. Pop. of town, 4492; of commune, 6800.
