Bussu Palm (Manicaria succifera), a palm growing in the tidal swamps of the Amazon. The stem is only 10 to 15 feet high; but the immense undivided coarsely serrate leaves are often 35 feet in length by 4 or 5 in width. The leaves make excellent and durable thatch. The spathe is made into bags, caps, and coarse cloth.
