Cadi

Cadi, an Arabic word signifying a judge or person learned in the law, the title of an inferior judge among the Mohammedan nations. Like the Mollah (q.v.), or superior judge, he must be chosen from the higher ranks of the priesthood, as all law is founded upon the Koran.
