Calumet, a mining town of Houghton county, Michigan, on a peninsula of Lake Superior, 42 miles N. of L'Anse by rail. The Calumet and Hecla copper mine here is said to be the richest in the world; its annual produce ranging from 30,000,000 lb. to upwards of 50,000,000 lb.—now much reduced. Pop. 1159.
