Cape Cod, properly a narrow peninsula of Massachusetts, in form somewhat like the letter L, which, with a length of 65 miles, forms the south-east boundary of the great bay of that state. The northern extremity, marked by a revolving light 155 feet high above the sea, is in 42° 3' 40" N. lat., and 70° 14' 48" W. long. It has been proposed to cut the neck of the peninsula by a canal.
