Car'chemish

Car'chemish, an ancient city on the Upper Euphrates, NE. of the modern Aleppo, was long the northern capital of the Hittites (q.v.), and was a city of great size and importance. It was identified by Mr George Smith with Jerablûs or Jerabis.
