Cardross, a village of south Dumfartonshire, on the Firth of Clyde, 3½ miles WNW. of Dumfarton by rail. King Robert Bruce died at Cardross Castle (1329), which stood between the village and Dumfarton. The suspension of the Free Church minister in 1858 led to a famous law-suit in the Court of Session.
