Carpzov, the name of a learned family, of which the most conspicuous members were BENEDICT (1595–1666), an important writer on law, who held high offices at Dresden and Leipzig; and his brother JOHANN BENEDICT (1607–57), professor of Theology at Leipzig, who published his Systema Theologicum in 1653.
