Carver, JOHN, born about 1575, was the leader of the Pilgrim Fathers (q.v.), and died at New Plymouth, Massachusetts, in April 1621, within five months of their landing. — JONATHAN CARVER (1732-80), an Englishman, travelled in North America, and wrote a book of travels.
