Cassiquia'ré, or CASSIQUIARI, a river of Venezuela, South America, forming the south bifurcation of the Orinoco, which it leaves in 3° 10' N. lat., 66° 20' W. long., and after a rapid south-west course of about 130 miles, joins the Rio Negro in 2° 5' N. lat., 67° 40' W. long. near San Carlos. By means of this singular river, water-communication is established, through the Amazon, Orinoco, and their affluents, between the interior of Brazil and a large tract in Venezuela.
