Citrus, a genus of Aurantiaceæ (q.v.), trees and shrubs of tropical, subtropical, and warm temperate Asia, but many of them now cultivated in all similar climates for their fruit. To it belong the Orange, Citron, Lemon, Lime, Bergamot, Shaddock, Forbidden Fruit, &c.
