Clackmannan

Clackmannan, the county town of Clackmannanshire, on the Devon, 2 miles E. by S. of Alloa. An eminence rising 100 feet above the Forth is crowned by the ruined tower of the Bruces; and there are also an old market-cross, three churches, and a public hall. Pop. 1779.
